RESEARCH AREA: PHYSICAL AND BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
For Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, reality is made up of a single structure that he calls the fabric of the universe, or “Spirit-Matter”, of which he perceives two sides, one through our neurosensory organs, matter, the other through introspection.
For him, spirit-matter is everywhere in the universe, and thus of interest to the fields of new physics, that of the infinitely small and that of the infinitely large. Advances in quantum physics are already giving credence to Teilhard's intuition.
The ongoing discovery of new exoplanets is encouraging us to consider the existence of thinking beings elsewhere in the universe, as Teilhard predicted (astrophysics). The physics of relativity and space-time is upsetting our reference points.
In the biomedical sciences, work is exploding to explain the increasingly close links between body and mind in their entirety, affecting different medical disciplines (genetics, microbiology, neurology and neuroscience, psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine...).
More advanced research in the various fields listed, deepening the systemic links and interfaces between matter and spirit, would enable us to further unfold the concept of spirit-matter foreseen by Teilhard and which constitutes a basic element in the spiritual reflection he led.
